ANNIE McGINNITY

McGINNITY Annie Died July 9th, 2017 All of her family, Maria, Peter, Gerard, Colette, Edel and Fran, her sister Allie, Sister Redempta, her daughters in law Marian and Aileen, sons in law Kieran, Dermot and Toby and Annie's grandchildren, would like to express our sincere thanks to those who sympathised with us following our recent sad bereavement. We have also been comforted by the many people who helped provide exceptional care for Annie in her final illness. She had always felt blessed by the good medical and nursing care she received from Dr Collins and the Roslea surgery staff and more recently the family experienced the same from Dr McCaffrey and colleagues in the Maple Practice, Lisnaskea, who encouraged and supported her Palliative care at home. She had the greatest respect for the warmth, honesty and professionalism of her Consultant, Professor Jim Kelly, and his staff in SWAH, likewise for her valued Social Workers Mrs Renee Gormley and Mrs Vera Wallace, each of whom also supported the family. Over these last years of decreasing mobility she had benefitted too from the input of a number of OT and Physio staff. Annie's final illness became evident in Gortacharn Nursing Home where she had received excellent short term care and enjoyed having lots of visitors. Her last weeks at home were supported by a team of outstanding carers, some with loyal, long term involvement including Mrs Angela Rooney and Mrs Annie Smyth, and many newer staff who had only come to know her this past year. They treated Annie with great warmth and dignity. As did Mrs Shirley Nixon and the whole team of superb District Nurses who came seven days a week to look after her changing needs with such professionalism and sensitivity. We all felt well cared for by them. The Palliative Care Nurses, Rapid Response Team Nurses and Out of Hours Services all contributed to making her final days comfortable. Annie's spiritual needs were equally well ministered to, primarily by Father Chester PP, but also by Canon Mullan when she was in Lisnaskea, and Canon Connolly, Father Pat Connolly and Eucharistic Minister, Mrs Ann Mulligan, in Roslea. She felt well prepared for leaving this life. Following Annie's death the family have greatly appreciated all those who showed such respect for her and kindness to us by visiting the house, bringing Mass Cards and Sympathy cards, supporting us with food, helping at the wake and those who formed a Guard of Honour at the removal to the church and the funeral. We particularly appreciated the many family, friends and work colleagues who travelled long distances (including traffic diversions ) to be with us. Throughout the wake and funeral our undertaker Aidan Connolly was on hand to guide and we were very grateful for his good advice and excellent service. We will always cherish the memory of how Father Chester PP made the beautiful Funeral Mass one of true Celebration and Thanksgiving for Annie's life. The Homily by Father Pat Connolly perfectly captured her and how she lived her faith, and challenged the rest of us to follow her example! Thanks to Father Donald Hannon, Marian's cousin, and Canon Connolly for concelebrating the Mass, she would have been very humbled. A special tribute is due to Patsy McPhillips and the choir she loved, they excelled themselves both days. Having that excellent meal in McCague's after the funeral reminded us of the many events and celebrations she had enjoyed there. Annie had a long and full life and she touched many people. In her later years she loved attending the Club in Carn Court that she had helped to set up, and all the outings associated. With no immediate family living locally we are grateful to all those good friends and neighbours who generously supported her as her health declined, especially those who brought her to Mass and kept her involved in the community she loved, until the end. Her Month's Mind Mass will be held in St Tierney's Church, Roslea on Saturday 12th August at 6.30 pm
