The 22-year-old woman who died
following a road traffic accident on
Derrylin Road, Lisnaskea, last
Thursday, only moved to Fermanagh
last November and was held in high
regard by the many friends she
made during her short time in the
community.
Claire Elizabeth Hodgson, of Breandrum Court, Enniskillen, a
popular member of staff in the Head Office of the Quinn Group,
Derrylin, will be buried following a funeral service in Manchester
today, Thursday. A short service also took place in Enniskillen.
Last Thursday, she had been on her way from work in Derrylin to
Lisnaskea to collect her boyfriend, Aiden Morris, from
Enniskillen, known to family and friends as Benny.
The accident happened just after 6.20p.m. when her Volvo car
struck a tree. No other vehicles were involved and any witnesses
are asked to contact the police at Lisnaskea, telephone 028 677
21777.
Benny, whose family is from Enniskillen, and Claire met in
England and they had been going out for the last three and a half
years. Members of the Morris family are travelling to Manchester
to support Benny and Claire’s family at today’s funeral service.
They also joined Claire’s parents and friends at a short funeral
service at the Erne Hospital, Enniskillen.
Mrs. Morris explained that Claire and Benny decided to come
and live in Fermanagh and moved over last November. She
added that Claire had previously been on holidays in the county
and she liked it here.
Last December, Claire joined the Accounts department at the
Quinn Group Head Office and Benny took up employment with
Colin Beatty at Lisnaskea.
The young woman made a warm impression on people she met
and Mrs. Morris describes her as “a lovely girl.” “There was
something very special about her. She was always putting
others before herself.”
Easy to talk to and very kind, Mrs. Morris recalls her
pleasantness and the fact she had a smile all the time.
An only daughter, Claire is survived by her parents, Stuart and
Pam, brothers, Mark, Paul and Neil, and her grandparents, as
well as her boyfriend, Aiden, his parents, and brothers and
sisters.
On behalf of Aiden, Mrs. Morris acknowledged all the support that
has been received at this time.
A spokeswoman from the Quinn Group said that Claire joined
the Accounts department at their Head Office last December.
“She was a very friendly and popular member of staff who was
also extremely efficient,” continued the spokeswoman, who
added that her work was always of the highest standard.
She said that Claire had settled in well during her short period
with the Quinn Group and she had made many friends and was
held in high regard by all who got to know her. “Our thoughts are
with Benny, her family and the Morris family at this sad time.”
