  • Finals uphold Games’ ethos
    1. Community Games Ulster finals - Sporting hopefuls from around Ulster descended upon Enniskillen for the Ulster finals of the ESB Community Games, supported by Coca Cola and the Fermanagh District Council on Saturday last with over 1000 children representing 100 teams from around the province. Colour, enthusiasm and pageantry were the order of the day as the St Michael’s Scout Band led the parade around the track at the Lakeland Forum, the central base for the day’s activities. With 16 events taking place throughout Fermanagh other facilities were provided by the Integrated College, St Michael’s College, Brewster Park, the Bawnacre Centre and Ashwoods Golf Centre.

  • Second half performance earns points for Gaels

GAA: First Trust SFL Division 1 - Teemore 2-08; Enniskillen 1-12 - Enniskillen maintained their recent run of good results as they accounted for Teemore in a tightly fought encounter in Teemore on Sunday afternoon. Enniskillen now move to within a point of Newtownbutler at the top of the division and there is now a gap growing between these two and the rest of the chasing group.

    1. TENNIS: Mollan Bros Fermanagh Open Tennis championships - The 2001 Fermanagh Open Tennis championships, sponsored by the local firm of Mollan Brothers began on Monday evening at Irvinestown Lawn Tennis Club.

GOLF: Enniskillen - You can’t keep a good man down and that is especially true of golfer extraordinaire Brian Doran who well and truly licked all comers in winning the Killyhevlin Open at Enniskillen Golf Club last Saturday. Brian produced yet another stunning round of golf to easily win this high profile event. Having finished runner-up in last weeks Fisher Memorial Pro-Am and winning the Brainwaves Charity event the next day, this easy victory rounded off a great week for him.

  • Two draws keep Newtown top
    1. GAA: Newtownbutler continue to head the pack in Division One of the Fermanagh senior football league after they picked up two draws over the weekend. In fact in both of their games it took points at the very death to secure the two draws.
