Members of the Northern Ireland Agricultural Producers’ Association take their protests over farm prices and bureaucracy to Stormont tomorrow (Friday).

The delegation of farmers which will be converging at Stormont from all corners of the Province including Fermanagh, will be led by the Chairman, Mr. Sean Clarke.

A bus will be leaving Fermanagh with members, starting out from Letterbreen at 9am and picking up members along the way to arrive at Stormont by about noon.

According to Fermanagh County Chairman, Mr. Pat McGrade, they have timed the day of protest to coincide with the first meeting of the Assembly’s Agriculture Committee since returning from the summer recess this week.

They will be handing in a letter of protest to the Committee and hoping to lobby members over the poor prices for milk and other farm products. They want answers to questions such as how shops can sell milk at 50p a litre when farmers are receiving prices as low as 13p.

The increasing form filling is another issue which Sean Clarke will be discussing with MLAs.

NIAPA supported the recent protest rally organised by the Farmers’ Action group.

If anyone wants to join the group to Stormont, they should contact one of the following members to arrange transport; Frank Rice, 66348531 Mick McGirr, 895 41436 John Mohan, 67738367 John McNulty, 66386365 Pat McGrade, 895 41696.
