A devoted husband, father and grandftaher, William McClintock, passed away peacefully in the Erne Hospital, Enniskillen, on Thursday, 24th July, 2003.

A “townie” born in New Row on 6th July, 1932, Billy was the youngest child of William and Kathleen McClintock and he spent his early life in Mill Street.

In 1953 he married Kathleen Henderson and they made their home in Kelly’s Cottages, later moving to Drumcor Hill. They reared a family of six.

Billy joined the Co-op bakery in 1951 and spent many a happy hour there. His former colleagues recalled fondly how they spent many a time playing poker in the bread room. While working there he met his lifelong friend Austen Stinson.

Billy spent the last ten years of his working life in the Picture Framing Factory, working alongside his sons-in-law. He was held in high esteem by all who worked with him. He was looked upon as an “uncle” by all the younger staff and this was apparent by their deep regret at his death.

He enjoyed many hobbies, reading, watching sport and videos of John Wayne.

Billy was a devoted family man. He adored his 13 grandchildren and he loved, advised and encouraged each and every one of them.

Billy is best remembered for his great sense of humour and hearty laugh. Billy’s funeral took place in St. Michael’s Church and was led by the Rev. Fr. Noel McGahan and the Rev. Fr. Victor Donnelly, C.P.

Family members participated in the service. Burial followed at Breandrum Cemetery.

Billy is survived by his wife Kathleen; sons, Tony, Derek and Stephen; daughters, Celia, Rita and Katrina and his 13 beloved grandchildren.

He leaves his sister Rita, Canada and family and his wife’s brother Johnny Henderson, wife Bella and family, Enniskillen.

He was predeceased by his parents William and Kathleen.

The funeral arrangements were by John McKeegan, Mill Street, Enniskillen.
