A 19-year-old unemployed man has been remanded in custody charged with attempted murder.

Alan Evans, from St. George’s Terrace, Dromore, appeared at Fermanagh Court on Monday afternoon, accused of attempting to murder Nigel Deazley on Sunday.

A detective sergeant told the court that the teenager made no reply when charged. The officer said he believed he could connect the accused with the offence.

Evans was remanded in custody to appear at Omagh Magistrate’s Court via video link on August 12.

The charge is believed to be connected to the alleged stabbing of a 38-year-old man outside licensed premises in Dromore in the early hours of Sunday morning. The victim was taken to Omagh County Hospital where he was stabilised before being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. He was initially described as being in a critical condition but was transferred out of intensive care on Monday when he was said to be “stable.”
