    1. Cycling: The Lakeland Cycle Club had the honour of hosting the 2003 Dunlop Kitchens All Ireland Underage Cycling Championships over the weekend. The first time the event has been staged in Northern Ireland.

    1. Rallying: Niall McShea proved his World Championship credentials last weekend, when he put in a blistering performance around the lanes of Lurgan Park to win Group N and finish seventh overall.

    1. Motorsport: It has been a whirlwind six months for Enniskillen resident Mark Johnston, and his adventures as a racing driver have been continuing over the past few weeks as he competed with considerable success in the TVR Tuscan Challenge.

  • Camus saga at an end?
    1. Football: The Camus Swifts saga regarding their entry into the Fermanagh and Western football league would seem to be at an end. Last week, Fermanagh and Western league secreatry Neil Jardine confirmed that he had received a copy of a letter which was sent to the IFA Junior committee, outlining their appeal against the decision of the Fermanagh and Western not to allow them into the league after their failure to register in the proper manner. Camus claim that they never received the official form while the secreatry of the Fermanagh claimed he sent out the form and tried to contact Camus on several occasions.

  • Edmund edges home to win Teddy’s prize
    1. Golf: Over 90 competitors and visitors turned out for President’s Day in Blacklion. The early starters began and finished in fine weather but the group starting at noon faced nine holes of torrential rain. The weather then brightened for President Teddy Henderson’s visitors and they had the best conditions of the day.

  • Fred Daly Plate final reached
    1. Golf: There were joyous scenes of celebration at Castle Hume on Saturday evening, as the young Fred Daly team reached the final of the Fred Daly Plate competition.

  • Cullen twins strike gold
    1. Community Games: The second weekend of the ESB Community Games All-Ireland Finals saw a host of excellent performances from the Fermanagh athletes and top of the list were the Cullen twins from Letterbreen. Che and Lee were both convincing winners in their heats and semi-final races. Che was first to run in the U10 100m final and after a slow start he powered his way down the last 20m to take the lead and secure his gold medal.

  • International call up for Jeremy
    1. Table Tennis: Fermanagh’s prolific veteran table tennis player Jeremy Lappin is in early training for the new season having just gained selection for the Ireland over 50’s team which will compete in the Home countries championship on the Isle of Man in September. Together with Norman Nabney from Belfast and Drogheda’s Ollie Adamson he will face teams from England, Scotland, Wales, Guernsey and the host nation in this prestigious event.

    1. Football: Lisnaskea Roverse 1 Irvinestown Wanderers 2 – A strong, disciplined second half performance gave Irvinestown a deserved victory at Castle Park on Tuesday night.

    1. Football: Ballinamallard Res. 2 Enniskillen Rangers 2 – Both sides, although minus several regular first choice players, served up an enjoyable exhibition of football at Ferney Park last Saturday.

  • Defeat to focus mind ahead of historic league opener
    1. Football: Chimney Corner 3 Ballinamallard Utd. 0 – Ballinamallard United somewhat surprisingly crashed to a 3-0 defeat in their second match in the Daily Mirror League Cup against Chimney Corner but manager Harry McConkey has no intention of pressing the panic button just yet.

    1. Football: Fivemiletown Utd. 2 Warrenpoint 3 – Fivemiletown United found out that life will be somewhat tougher in the Mid-Ulster Intermediate A section this year, when they lost at home to Warrenpoint by the odd goal in five on the opening day of their new season.

  • Tempo in last eight
    1. GAA: Tempo 2-08 Lisnaskea 0-12 – Tempo booked their place in the quarter final of the Senior Championship on Saturday when they had a two point victory over Lisnaskea at Brookeborough.

  • Doherty proves a real handful
    1. GAA: Kinawley 1-12 Derrygonnelly 1-07 – Shaun Doherty put in an excellent performance as Kinawley blasted their way to the quarter-final of this year’s senior championship with a deserved five points victory over Derrygonnelly on Sunday evening at Brewster Park.

  • Belcoo end Newtown domination
    1. Ladies GAA: Belcoo 6-07 Newtownbutler 2-14 – Belcoo defeated ladies kingpins Newtownbutler to claim the Intermdiate championship crown in a thrilling final that was marred by an injury to Newtownbutler’s Karen O’Neill who was transferred to hospital early in the second half.
