The death took place peacefully last Wednesday, September 10, 2003, surrounded by family and friends, of Mrs. Nora Josephine Duffy, best known as Nora, late of Derrin Road, Enniskillen.

Aged 91 years, her passing, which occurred at the Erne Hospital, Enniskillen, followed a period of declining health.

Nora, formerly Donaghy, was born at Tully South, Lisnaskea, a daughter of James and Mary Jane Donaghy.

Her family subsequently settled at Tamlaght, where she would have spent some of her formative years.

After leaving home, she worked as a personal care nurse in England.

She met and married Hugh Duffy, from the Monea area, who had been a bus driver all his working life.

After their marriage, they lived in Tamlaght and then moved to Irvinestown, followed by Water Street, Enniskillen.

They then moved to Cornagrade and lived at the Bawn, from the early fifties.

The Duffys left there in 1967 and moved to Belfast.

They came back to Enniskillen in 1973 and lived in Kilmacormick Avenue. (Hugh passed away in 1977.)

Nora continued to live in Kilmacormick until 1995, when she moved to Derrin Road, where she remained until moving into the Graan Nursing Home in Enniskillen.

She and Hugh had a family of three sons, Canice (Kenny), John (Don) and Thomas. Canice died in 1989 and John in 1994.

Home and family were major interests for Nora, who had been a dedicated family woman.

She was a member of the Golden Age Club in Enniskillen for many years. Her funeral service at St. Michael’s Church, Enniskillen, was led by the Rev. Fr. Owen and there was family involvement in the service. Burial followed at Breandrum Cemetery, Enniskillen.

The last surviving member of her family, Nora is survived by her son, Thomas, in the U.S.A., his wife, Darleen, and their two children; Patrick and Tara.

She leaves another five grandchildren, Colin, Gavin, Alison, Stephen and Jacqueline; her daughters-in-law, Brenda and Susan; nephews, nieces, and the wider family circle.

The funeral arrangements were by Enda Love and Sons, Braeside Park, Enniskillen.
