The death on September 7 of Robert Henry McCutcheon, occurred peacefully at his home, 63 Remalia Road, Clabby, after a long term illness.

Rob, as he was affectionately known, was born on December 27th, 1918 at Moysnaught, Clabby, the eldest son of the late Henry and Catherine McCutcheon.

He was educated at Clabby Public Elementary School and following this he worked all his life on the family farm, pursuing his interests especially with horses and enjoying meeting friends at the local mart. He had a keen interest in the daily running of the farm until a few days before his death.

On April 14th, 1952, he married Margaret Kidney from Lisnabane. They made their home at Remalia Road and had one son, Leslie.

In April, 2002 they celebrated their Golden Anniversary among family and friends. The home always provided a warm welcome for all visitors and this was reflected by the large attendance at the funeral from his home to St. Margaret’s Church, Clabby. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Maurice Armstrong, assisted by Pastor Harry Dowds. Burial took place in the adjoining graveyard.

The hymns were: “Rock of ages”, “The Lord’s my Shepherd” and “Safe in the arms of Jesus”.

Robert is survived by his wife Margaret; son Leslie, daughter-in-law Ivy, grandson Alan and wife Diane and granddaughter Janet. He is also survived by his brothers Ervie (Ella), Portadown; James (Rita), Tempo; niece and nephews and family circle. He was predeceased by his brother Thomas (Greenisland).

Funeral arrangements were by Ian McCutcheon, Clabby.
