FOOTBALL: Town hit with £160 fine:
Enniskillen Town United were fined £160 at
last Monday’s Fermanagh and Western
meeting following the failure of their Reserve
Team to field on two occasions and their
Colts team to field on one occasion in the
opening weeks of the league. Beragh Swifts
Reserves, Ederney, Irvinestown Wanderers
Reserves and Sixmilecross Bohemians
were all fined £50 for failing to field on one
occasion.
Sectarian abuse noted
Following a letter of complaint from Enniskillen Swifts outlining sectarian
abuse of their team and officials during their fixture with Beragh Swifts, the
Tyrone club have been told by the Fermanagh and Western that the incident
will be recorded against the Club and will be re-opened should any further
instances occur.
Beragh claimed no such incidents took place apart from the normal sideline
banter that is part and parcel of any game. An independent member of the
Fermanagh and Western management Committee corroborated the evidence
of Enniskillen Swifts while other members commented on other incidents in
the past, citing that supporters were consuming alcohol on the sideline.
Lisbellaw keep points
An Omagh Hospital claim that Lisbellaw United played an illegal player was
not upheld given that Omagh could not furnish any evidence save an
anonymous phone call which they had received regarding the player. The
signature of the player under question matched with his registration form
which was also in order and the protest was subsequently dismissed.
Match to be replayed
The Churchtown versus Barrowfield league fixture will have to be replayed
after Sean Meehan who had signed a registration form for two clubs played in
the fixture in question for Barrowfield which Barrowfield won. As Meehan had
signed two registration forms he should not have played for any club until a
Registrar’s meeting sorted the matter out. Barrowfield were unaware that the
player had signed for two clubs when they named them on their team.
The Committee decreed that the match be refixed and the player concerned,
Sean Meehan, will remain suspended until the next meeting of the Registrar’s
Committee.
Churchtown told to keep playing at Vaughan’s Holm
Churchtown FC have been told by the Fermanagh and Western to continue
playing their fixtures at Vaughan’s Holm and not Mitchell Park as they did last
weekend. In a deal brokered by Strabane County Council, Dergiew and
Barrowfield, Churchtown have been given use of Mitchell Park for the second
part of the season.
As part of the new agreement. Dergview 3rds will have to play at Vaughan’s
Holm.
However, Churchtown switched last week’s fixture to the new venue without
informing the Fermanagh and Western of this permanent change under rule
8(d). As a result, Dergview 3rds, who also use the pitch had to cancel their
fixture.
Indeed, it has not been made clear to the Fermanagh and Western when this
new arrangement is due to start and until matters go though the right
channels, the Fermanagh and Western have told Churchtown that they will
not accept their use of Mitchell Park until it has been changed permanently
under rule 8(d) and providing that it does not clash with a home fixture of
Barrowfield or Dergview 3rds, the other occupants of the pitch.
