World champion demonstrates the art of reversible ploughing
The world champion ploughman, David Wright from Magherafelt, lifted the reversible ploughing title at the Fermanagh and Tyrone Ploughing Society’s competition.

The reversible class attracted a good entry of competitors at the recent ploughing match near Newtownstewart.

    Secretary, Albert Hetherington, reported that they had over 40 competitors from eight counties representing 16 clubs or societies taking part.

    As an affiliated club of the Northern Ireland Ploughing Association, the competition earns winners points towards being selected to represent Northern Ireland at the end of the season.

    This year’s World Ploughing Championships are being hosted by Northern Ireland on September 3 and 4 at Foyle Farm, Ballykelly.

    The judges were Lawrence McMillan, President of the N orthern Ireland Ploughing Association; William King, Chairman; Des Wright Deputy Chairman and Tom McCracken, member.

    The Fermanagh and Tyrone Ploughing Society acknowledged the support of district councils and businesses towards the running of the event.
