Swimming: A team of strong young
swimmers from Lakelanders
Swimming Club weathered the
stormy conditions early on Saturday
morning, determined to pit their
levels of physical and mental
endurance at longer distances
against some of the finest
competitors in the province.Their destination was Lisburn’s Lagan Valley Leisureplex to
compete in the Ulster Region 200 Metre A & B Grades. For some
of the team this was a first attempt at this distance in
competition.
All who took part excelled, Matthew Lappin achieving finalist
awards in both breaststroke and back crawl; Rebecca Gormley
achieving finalist awards in both back crawl and freestyle;
Caoimhe Morris achieving a finalist award in the individual
medley; and Nicole Doonan, Rachel Ellis and Rachel Gormley
also producing outstanding performances, with personal bests
surely worthy of plaudits from the dedicated coaching staff at the
club.
