Supermoto: St. Angelo again played
host to some of the top supermoto
and quad bike racers in Ireland with
the incessant wind and rain abating
just in time to allow Sunday’s event
to be a great success. Among the
mnay riders from Dublin, Wexford,
Wicklow, Belfast, Donegal and
Lisburn were a host of riders from
the west of the Bann that more than
held their own.Among ths was Clogher’s Alan Morgan who recovered from an
unfortunate run in the A Solo final to win the second final. Others
to feature highly in the top supermoto section was Clogher
brothers David and Keith Farmer and Paul Gormley from
Omagh.
In the quad final, Chris Thompson from Omagh won both finals
but he was hotly pursued by Lisnarick’s Noel Woods on a Suzuki
quad who finished a super second and fourth in the two finals.
Sean Conway from Ballycassidy also enjoyed the event and is
sure to feature on the leaderboard when the Irish Championship
gets underway next month.
Indeed, St. Angelo will play host to a round of the Irish
Supermoto Championships over the weekend of April 17 and 18
as the sport continues to grow in popularity esopecially if
Fermanagh and Tyrone.
Arnold Morgan is secretary of Supermoto Racing Ireland and he
was impressed with both the facilities and the standard of the
local riders.
“It was a great event with a good turnout of spectators given the
weather we had last weekend,” revealed Arnold before adding.
“The event could not have happened without the help of Keith
Collen at Fermanagh District Council and our main sponsors
Woodowrking Machinery Ireland. All the riders love the St. Angelo
track and the local riders, while not big in numbers, are certainly
big in terms of quality.”
