Tara completes an ultimate test in endurance

Tara Malone has completed an incredible feat of endurance, running six marathons in six days in six different countries. The Enniskillen runner, along with fellow runners Darren Hamilton and Paul Floyd, took on the challenge to raise money for MacMillan Cancer, and in a gruelling week covered 26 mile routes in England, Wales, Scotland and the Isle of Man, as well as Dublin and Belfast. Tara admits there were feelings of elation and relief when they reached the finish line of the sixth marathon at Belfast City Hall.

Dolan adds Irish U23 title to growing list of honours

Enniskillen athlete Ciaran Dolan added the Irish U23 Long Jump title to his growing list of national honours at a cool and breezy Mardyke in Cork on Sunday morning. Dolan, a former St Michael’s College athlete, had already won national honours at every age group from U14 to junior (U20) and added five Irish schools titles and the Northern Ireland senior title at the youthful age of 18 in 2011.

Glenn ‘ecstatic’ to be first Fermanagh winner Fermanagh winner of Enniskillen 10K

Lisnaskea’s Glenn Phair became the first Fermanagh man to win the Enniskillen 10K when he romped home by two clear minutes to top the podium in a time of 33 minutes and 11 seconds.

A superb bronze medal and PB for Edel in 1,500m

Following the successful weekend for Fermanagh athletes of all ages on the track in Belfast last weekend; it was off to the Antrim Forum on Sunday for more Ulster finals for Tommy Farrell’s Enniskillen Running Club juniors.

Hoy powers his way to Varsity title

Mark Hoy produced a storming run at the Irish Varsity Championships in Waterford last week to secure the 1500m title, and in doing so clinching qualification on the Irish team that will participate at the Celtic Varsity Championships in Scotland next month, with Mark hoping to retain the title in Scotland that he won last year.

Ulster Schools gold for St. Michael’s at Mallusk

St Michael’s eased their way to a twelfth Ulster schools cross-country title in eight years when they took the mini (U13) boys gold medal at Mallusk on Tuesday afternoon and added provincial bronze medals in the Junior (U15) and Intermediate (U17) categories.

St. Michael’s runners among medals at Necarne

Athletes from across the province and as far away as Galway descended on Necarne Estate, Irvinestown last Saturday for the penultimate race of the well supported Athletics NI Cross Country League, the Fermanagh XC. This event was hosted by Enniskillen Running Club in association with Fermanagh District Council.

Four team golds for St. Michael’s at E-District Championships

St. Michael’s were the big winners at the E-District Schools Cross Country Championships which were held at Necarne on Monday as Ruairi Maguire lead home a clean-sweep of the senior boys medals for the Enniskillen school who were to win four of the five boys team gold medals on the day.
