Mahon delighted with first National title and a new PB

Last weekend was a hugely successful one for Fermanagh lad Conall Mahon who not only secured his first national title on Friday by winning the Irish Universities Triple Jump crown in Athlone but then went on the next day to break his PB on his way to victory at the Irish National Indoor League at the same venue.

At Christmas the local runner set himself a target of running a 10K race in every county in Ireland, and with over three months still remaining he has competed in 29 of the 32 counties, with only Carlow, Cavan and Leitrim still on his list.

Tara completes an ultimate test in endurance

Tara Malone has completed an incredible feat of endurance, running six marathons in six days in six different countries. The Enniskillen runner, along with fellow runners Darren Hamilton and Paul Floyd, took on the challenge to raise money for MacMillan Cancer, and in a gruelling week covered 26 mile routes in England, Wales, Scotland and the Isle of Man, as well as Dublin and Belfast. Tara admits there were feelings of elation and relief when they reached the finish line of the sixth marathon at Belfast City Hall.

Dolan adds Irish U23 title to growing list of honours

Enniskillen athlete Ciaran Dolan added the Irish U23 Long Jump title to his growing list of national honours at a cool and breezy Mardyke in Cork on Sunday morning. Dolan, a former St Michael’s College athlete, had already won national honours at every age group from U14 to junior (U20) and added five Irish schools titles and the Northern Ireland senior title at the youthful age of 18 in 2011.
