We are now about half way through the summer break and there is still plenty of drama to come at your local theatre by the lakes starting with Southbank Playhouse presenting the hilarious play by Alan Ayckbourn 'Absurd Person Singular' on Thursday 2, Friday 3 and Saturday 4 August at 8pm. This is followed by another three nights of comedy when Holywood players present 'Don't Lose The Place' by Derek Benfield on Thursday 9, Friday 10 and Saturday 11 August 2012.

Then for something completely different you can catch music from the 'King of Rock n Roll' as CC Houlihan and The Sweet Sensations take to the stage on Saturday 18 August at 8pm.

Over the August Bank Holiday weekend there is great excitement as the 'Happy Days Enniskillen International Beckett Festival' runs from Thursday 23 August to Monday 27 August. The festival starts with 'Edna O'Brien Live and in Conversation with William Crawley' on Thursday 23 August at 7.30pm. Edna O'Brien is, of course, the legendary Irish writer and William Crawley is a BBC journalist and broadcaster. Then Robert Wilson directs and stars in the preview of 'Krapp's Last Tape' by Samuel Beckett on Friday 24 August at 8.30pm followed by shows on Saturday 25 August at 8.30pm, Sunday 26 August at 3pm and 8.30pm and Monday 27 August at 3pm. The summer programme of events at the Ardhowen Theatre finishes with 'Celebrating 25 Years with Mick Flavin and Friends' on Thursday 30 August at 8pm, '40 Years of the Sands Family In Concert' on Friday 31 August at 8pm and 'Billy Boy Miskimmin's Mercy Lounge' with special guest Rab McCullough on Saturday 1 September at 9pm in the Gallery Bar.

Southbank Playhouse presents the hilarious 'Absurd Person Singular' Three couples. Three different parties. Too many crises to count. They say you will always find them in the kitchen at parties, and this hilarious play from Alan Ayckbourn focuses on all those intriguing little subplots which tend to play out in the background at social gatherings. Three couples, each with their own neuroses and ulterior motives, do their best to enjoy each other's parties, despite suicidal tendencies, over excited canines and the constant threat of playing party games. Holywood Players presents Don't Lose The Place by Derek Benfield When Sylvia's boyfriend Robin walks out on her she decides on a rather unconventional method of finding a replacement. Determined not to be let down a second time, she has carefully arranged a timetable in order to 'try out' various assorted lovers and assess their suitability before making her final choice of a potential husband. But timetables have a way of going wrong ... A torrent of confusions and mistaken identities inevitably arise as Sylvia and her friend Jemma try, with unexpected and hilarious results, to prevent the final confrontation of the three trial husbands. The King of Rock n Roll The King's memory is kept alive in this totally live show, with all the hits from each stage of Elvis's career from the 50s to the Las Vegas years. The concert, which marks this legend's untimely death over 32 years ago, features the amazing CC Houlihan, one of the finest Elvis impersonators in these islands and a band of talented musicians who will rock your socks off in their own right, alongside the vocal talents of the beautiful 'Sweet Sensations'.
