The classic American preppy look is Amy Greene’s style choice for this week’s Lifestyle shoot.

The 17-year-old Mount Lourdes student from Bellanaleck has just been named captain of the Jets Cheerleading Varsity Squad and is fresh from Pine Forest Cheerleader Camp Pennsylvania; a 10-day trip that she describes as “the best experience I’ve ever had”.

Amy has been doing gymnastics since she was three-years-old, initially with Splitz gymnastics club and now with the Lakeland Forum. When she heard about the formation of a cheerleading club in Fermanagh, she thought it would be a new challenge.

“It’s really fun. I joined two years ago and people think it’s about pom poms but it’s lots of hard work. I’ve made lots of friends. It’s about dancing and stunting - that’s throwing people up in the air,” she explains.

Amy admits that “sometimes it’s scary because you have that responsibility of catching someone as they come down. It’s all about the core strength and the gymnastics helps with that”, (as her photo shows)!

She is looking forward to her captaincy which she expects will entail her showing leadership skills and helping the younger members of the squad.

She also hopes that this year they will train harder than ever and perform at festivals and maybe a few competitions.

The trip to Pine Forest camp was particularly memorable. “Cheerleading is huge in America and we were the only international group there. The rest were from America, and because we were from Ireland, they loved us. They thought everyone from Ireland were leprechauns!” While physically demanding, the camp was thoroughly enjoyable and the squad learnt lots of new choreography, cheers and stunts. “We made lots of friends and it was the best experience I’ve ever had.” Between studying for her AS Levels in Art, Business Studies and Sociology at Mount Lourdes, captaining the Jets, gymnastics on Wednesdays and a part-time job in Frou Frou, Amy still finds time to pull off the glamorous autumn/winter look from Graham Womenswear.

With her hair and make-up done by Grainne Moane in Blue Sky Hairdressing, Amy’s three looks from Graham Womenswear see her ready for a long walk through the autumn leaves, shopping and lunch with friends and a family event or a party.

Sophisticated in a Ted Baker oil painting floral print cap sleeve dress, Amy also wears ox blood red patent stilettos by Ted Baker and an ox blood red Anaconda handbag by Michael Kors.

Next she is wrapped up against the cold in a gold Tommy Hilfiger puffa jacket with fur-trimmed hood (also available in navy and wine). She rocks the leather look skinny jeans by Hugo Boss, teamed with a teal paisley print shirt and teal beanie and matching scarf all by Tommy Hilfigger. This look is completed by black suede Tommy Hilfiger ankle boots.

Her favourite outfit sees her in skinny denim jeans by Hugo Boss with a college print navy and wine shirt and matching trilby by Tommy Hilfiger, with a hot-pink cashmere pullover and suede pink gloves, also by Tommy Hilfiger. Navy suede and coffee leather boots by Tommy Hilfiger finish this perfect casual autumn look.
