COLLEGIATE Grammar School pupil, Bethany Blair may only be 14 but she’s a lady who knows what she wants!

With aspirations of a career in the equestrian field she is also keen to take up modelling work on a part-time basis.

And her experience as this year’s Miss British Empire Enniskillen will certainly give her plenty of practice.

The Enniskillen girl was to learn last night whether she was successfully selected to go through to the next round of the competition.

But taking part in our Lifestyle photoshoot this week the young brunette said she had taken so much from the experience already.

Wearing a black ASOS dress with shoes from New Look, Bethany says she has enjoyed the opportunity to get dressed up while taking part in the competition.

“I would recommend taking part in the competition to anyone,” she says, “It’s been a real confidence booster for me and I love getting dolled up too!” Bethany’s mum, Gwyneth has accompanied her to the photoshoot this week.

Speaking of her pride in her teenage daughter, she acknowledges that Bethany looks much older than her 14 years.

“It’s a bit scary actually!” she says, “Bethany has really enjoyed taking part in Miss British Empire. We saw the flyers for the Enniskillen heats and phoned just a few days before the local heat was to take place. It was a bit last minute! She has a real interest in modelling. As a birthday treat she got to go to Judith Wilson’s School of Modelling and she loved that. It helped to build up her confidence as she was always quite shy. Her personality really came out after she went to Judith Wilson. She doesn’t expect to be the next Naomi Campbell or Kate Moss! But she has done a few local fashion shows and has really enjoyed them.” Indeed as Bethany models her confirmation dress, from Spoiled Rotten, and shoes from New Look, it’s clear that she has picked up plenty of tips from Fermanagh’s former Miss Northern Ireland.

In fourth year at Collegiate Grammar, Bethany is currently preparing for her GCSEs.

But in her spare time she loves nothing more than going shopping with her school mates.

“We all have similar tastes in fashion so we would all go together,” she explains, wearing a blue skater skirt from New Look and aztec jumper from River Island, “I like Exhibit and New Look because they always have funky, bright colours in. I like NV too. Mum would buy things for me online and I also like Betsy Johnston as well.” Besides shopping Bethany also enjoys going to Barn Youth Club and is a member of Trory Accordion Band.

But her real passion in life is horse riding.

And her final look of the day reflects this.

Wearing her riding gear but still looking every inch a fashionista, Bethany says she is crossing her fingers for a horse for Christmas!

I go to Ballinamallard Drumbaragh Stables pretty much every week,” she says, “I love horses. I would love one of my own but I’m told Santa doesn’t do horses. I’m still holding out for one though. Maybe some day!”
