We should not move backwards
DEAR SIR - Regarding the recent article 'Council passes motion supporting same sex marriage' - as a Fermanagh student studying in Dundee I was online reading the news from back home as I do every week and I came across this from Ballinamallard's very own DUP Councillor Bert Johnston, talking about same-sex marriage... "With all my being, I oppose this motion; it's iniquitous."

A person's sexuality is not a choice
DEAR SIR, - I would like to explain to Rev Robinson why (although I fully believe that he is entitled to his own opinion, and I fully believe in freedom of speech), I believe his letter and attitudes are potentially harmful to LGBT people in Northern Ireland, in Fermanagh, in no doubt his home village of Kesh and perhaps unknowingly to him, within his own congregation. I also wish to expose several inaccuracies to his argument.

Who do you think you are kidding, Mr.....?
I'm told there is a "Dad's Army Appreciation Society". You know, fans of that old comedy set in the Home Guard at Walmington-on-sea during the Second World War.

Till death us do part?
I sat in the front room of my home last week with my brother and parents. As we chatted a hearse drove slowly by and I saw the words DAD written in flowers on the side of it.

I read this week that a couple of amateur surveyors from Wales have been climbing some of Britain's highest peaks to see if they should be classified as mountains or hills.

When people shout stop!
Last week I wrote a column about how much I regretted that I didn't make a complaint about a hospital when I was neglected at one of the most vulnerable times of my life; twenty three years later very little had changed.

When nobody shouts stop
Twenty three years ago this week I went into labour. Nothing unusual about that as I was nine months pregnant. When the pains started on the Friday morning I went to my local doctor and he told me to go directly to the hospital. I did. Fifty miles later I entered the Regional Hospital in Galway now called University College Hospital.
