A much-loved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, Mrs. Sarah McCabe, late of Reihill Park, Irvinestown (whose husband predeceased her 24 years ago) passed away at her home unexpectedly and peacefully on June 17, 2012. Aged 84 years, she previously led an active life.

Formerly Smith from Lack, she was a twin daughter of the late James and Minnie Smith, who had a family of three sons and four daughters and she went to Lack School. Four siblings survive Sarah including her twin sister, Lizzie McKenna from Dromore. (She was predeceased by two brothers, Billy and Jim.) Sarah met her husband Jack McCabe and they married in June 1947. They made their first home in Ballinamallard (Barragh) and they lived at Killee (Coa) and Salloon, Ballinamallard, before moving in 1966 to Reihill Park, where Sarah had lived ever since.

Sarah and her husband Jack (who passed away in April 1988) had a family of seven: Billy, Ronnie, Joan, Ann, Raymond, Irene and Ian. A major interest were her home and family, who were of tremendous importance to her, and she greatly enjoyed baking and knitting for them.

During her working life, she did home care for a number of families, and she worked at the chalets at the Manor House, Killadeas, and in the tea shop in Irvinestown.

She liked reading newspapers and watching game shows on television and she enjoyed the game of bingo, which she played in Enniskillen, Irvinestown and Dromore.

An outgoing figure, Sarah loved going down town and meeting and chatting to people and going for a cup of coffee. She was very fond of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and she delighted in them calling with her. Her family is very appreciative of the help of her carers and neighbours who visited Sarah's home. Her funeral service at Derryvullen North Parish Church, Irvinestown, was conducted by Canon Glenn West and the hymns were Abide With Me and Safe in the Arms of Jesus. Dr. Margaret Knox, who was a good friend to Sarah, read Psalm 23. Burial took place at Sydare Cemetery.

Sarah is survived by her children: Billy, Ronnie, Joan, Ann, Raymond, Irene and Ian; 15 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

She leaves her brother Bob and sisters, Annie, Kathleen, and Lizzie, the wider family circle and her friends.

The funeral arrangements were by funeral directors, W.T. Morrison, Darling Street, Enniskillen.
