As the London 2012 Olympic flame travels on its final leg down the River Thames today, Friday - en route to the opening of the London Olympic Games - a young Fermanagh oarswoman is playing a valuable role.

GB international lightweight rower Beci Humphreys, from Enniskillen, is in a support boat travelling alongside the royal row barge Gloriana, which has past Olympians and young people from London Youth Rowing as members of its crew.

The Olympic Torch is being ferried on the Gloriana from Hampton Court to London's Tower Bridge, from where it will make its way to the Games' opening ceremony and the lighting this evening of the Olympic cauldron.

For Beci Humphreys, a member of London Rowing Club, it is a pleasing development to be part of this historic journey and to be involved in the last leg of the torch bearing tour around Great Britain.

Having the opportunity to share in the final morning of the torch relay isn't Beci's only involvement in this year's Games. The former Collegiate Grammar School pupil and Enniskillen rower is working as team leader for volunteers at the Welcome Centre of the Olympic Village. "It is a great time to be involved," believes Beci.
