BBC Songs of Praise is coming to St. Macartin's Cathedral in Enniskillen with recording due to take place soon.

The well-known and popular long-running television programme's visit is generating much excitement at the town-centre church, where creating 'the best sound' is its focus.

All parishioners are being invited to take part in the recording, and it is preferred that members of the congregations attend all the evenings.

A Cathedral representative points out that all choirs will be required for rehearsal at 7pm next Wednesday, October 10.

The sound recording will take place at 6.30pm on Wednesday, October 17, advised the spokesman, who believes: "It's really important that we get as many singers at this as possible to create the best sound. Doors will open at 5.30pm." On the following evening, Thursday, October 18, they will require all choirs again, but they will joined by members of the local church congregations. They request that everyone be seated by 6.15pm as filming will start at 6.30pm promptly; again doors will open at 5.30pm.

The spokesman explained that the first part of the evening will feature five hymns which will be broadcast on Remembrance Sunday and the second part will be five hymns which will be broadcast next summer. He went on to say that "all choirs and attending congregation at both rehearsal and the recording sessions will be directed by a Songs of Praise musical conductor, Mr. Gordon Stewart" and that a Songs of Praise hymnbook containing all relevant hymns and music will be provided.

The spokesman mentioned that the hymns recorded at this outside broadcast will be broadcast in two Songs of Praise programmes. The transmission dates are Sunday, November 11, which is Remembrance Sunday, and Sunday, May 26, May 2013. "We hope you will enjoy being part of this recording," he added.
