A 25-YEAR-OLD man charged in connection with the seizure of £70,000 worth of cannabis from an alleged drugs factory in Bellanaleck last year has appeared before Fermanagh Magistrates Court.

Danny Sexton, whose address was given as The Depot, Fairfield Road, Braintree, Essex, is charged with cultivating cannabis in a property at Derrylin Road, Bellanaleck on November 7 last year.

He is further charged with possessing a Class B controlled drug, namely cannabis, possession of a Class B controlled drug with intent to supply and dishonestly causing a quantity of electricity to be diverted.

Sexton confirmed that he understood the charges against him when he appeared in court on Monday morning.

A PSNI officer told the court that she was aware of the facts and circumstances in the case and believed she could connect the defendant to all the charges.

Applying for a six-week adjournment, a Public Prosecution Service (PPS) representative told the court that a full file had been requested in the case and was due by August 21.

District judge, Nigel Broderick, adjourned the case until Monday, August 24 for an update from the PPS.

The defendant, who is currently living in England with his brother, was excused from attending the next hearing, but was advised by the judge to keep in close contact with his lawyer.
