Three colourful new titles have been published by Fermanagh author Alison Brown, who now has 10 titles published, all on biblical themes.

Bible Names, A Bible Alphabet Busy Book and In the beginning God created...are the recent publications by Alison, who lives near the village of Lack; she is married to David, with five grown-up children.

Formerly a primary school teacher, she illustrated for other publications up until 2005, and then began producing her own books, 'with the aim of encouraging today’s children to understand, trust and cherish the precious truths of God’s Word.'

In reference to Bible Names, published by The Banner of Truth Trust, Edinburgh, it is highlighted that one of the first words a child learns to recognise, and then to write, is his own name. He identifies not simply with its shape and sound, but often with its origin, especially if he shares it with someone he loves and respects.

"Bible Names, written for the primary age-group, presents simple biblical truths about God’s promises, repentance, faith and obedience, using the lives and names of some well-known Bible characters, presented in a chronological order. Some activities are provided to help children recap the main facts in each lesson," explains a representative.

In relation to A Bible Alphabet Busy Book, also published by The Banner of Truth Trust, it is noted: "Many parents and teachers, and some schools, want to start with the Bible when educating their children. Based on the stories from A Bible Alphabet, the pages of this Busy Book provide opportunity for children who are beginning to express themselves in writing, to develop the skill of sentence making, while their thoughts are firmly focused on Biblical truths. Various types of structured writing activities are revisited at intervals, to inspire confidence, while the frequent use of open-ended questioning allows the more able child the chance to experiment with his own vocabulary." It is designed 'to entice aspiring young writers to sharpen their pencils and get going!'

In relation to Alison's third new title, In the beginning God created... , published by Day One Ministries, Leominster, a number of questions is posed: "Who made God? Where did the world come from? How did the first man get here?' Children need answers to these questions, and God, who alone was present at the beginning, provides them in his Word, the Bible."

The representative adds: "Parents sometimes argue that children should be allowed to choose what to believe about origins when they are older....but if we fail to teach the Bible to children we are actually removing that choice. They are left with nothing but man’s theory of evolution. We need to teach Creation, not just because it is God-given truth, but because it is the foundation to God’s glorious plan of redemption."

In the beginning has been designed for children in the upper-primary school age-group. The representative outlined: "Filled with activities, puzzles and drawing opportunities, it presents truth, backed up with scripture references, in a format your child will enjoy! A song, designed to help children remember the order of Creation events, is also included."

Nine of Alison's 10 titles have been published by The Banner of Truth Trust, Edinburgh, and one by Day One Ministries, Leominster. All are locally available from Real Life Bookshop in Enniskillen, and Oasis Bookshop in Lisnaskea.
