A CAR went on fire in the Old Junction Road area of Irvinestown after colliding with a tree at the weekend.

Firefighters from Irvinestown were deployed to the scene after receiving a report of a car on fire at around 9.20pm on Sunday.

They found the car “well alight” following a collision with a tree in the area.

No one was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. The fire crew was finished at the scene at 10.05pm.

A Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) spokesman said today (Thursday) that the cause of the blaze was still under investigation.
