THE young boy who died as a result of a traffic collision at Lattone Road in Belcoo, yesterday (Sunday) was seven-year-old Ryan McGovern, police have confirmed.
The incident took place at around 1pm, just days before Christmas.

Ryan was taken from the scene by ambulance under police escort to South West Acute Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

The main Garrison to Belcoo Road was closed and diversions put in place while the rescue services attended the scene.

A number of ambulances, police cars and the PSNI helicopter responded to the emergency.

Police have asked for witnesses to contact officers in Enniskillen on 101.

Sinn Féin Councillor Anthony Feely has expressed his deepest sympathies to the McGovern family, of Garrison, following the tragic death of their son.

The Erne West Councillor said: "The news that broke this afternoon is sending shockwaves throughout the Garrison, Belleek and surrounding areas.

"Accidents like this are always extremely difficult but as we approach Christmas, a time when families come together, it adds to the devastation.

"My son was in the same class as Ryan and therefore I can't begin to imagine what Michelle and Donal, as well as Ryan's brothers Daniel and Ben and the extended McCafferty and McGovern families are going through.

"The entire community will rally round to support the family through this tough time as we keep them in our thoughts and prayers."
