A pupil at St. Michael’s College, Enniskillen, admitted to hospital with suspected meningococcal disease, an infection that can cause meningitis, was said to be improved yesterday, Wednesday.

Canon Macartan McQuaid, chaplain in St. Michael’s College, in an updated Tweet on Twitter yesterday, from Mac McQuaid @MacMcQuaid said “there was good news to tell” and that the student was “much improved.”

The HSC Public Health Agency, in a letter to parents and guardians (dated January 30, 2016), and which is being carried on St. Michael’s College’s website, noted that “a pupil who attends St. Michael’s College, Enniskillen, has been admitted to hospital with suspected meningococcal disease, which is an infection that can cause meningitis.” 

Tweeting on Saturday was St. Michael’s College ‏- St_Michael’s_College ‏@St_Michaels_Ekn Jan 30; it asked to “please pray” for their year 14 pupil “who is seriously ill in hospital.”

In a tweet from Mac Quaid ‏@MacMcQuaid Jan 30, Canon McQuaid asked for “your prayers” for the young 18 year old student of St. Michael’s. And on Monday, Mac McQuaid ‏@MacMcQuaid Feb 1 said “Sincere prayer achieves more than the world can ever know. Keep praying.” He mentioned that the student “is slightly improved but is still serious.” Will keep updating, he said.

And in one of his latest Tweets, Mac McQuaid ‏@MacMcQuaid (yesterday, Wednesday) said there was “good news to tell.” He noted that the pupil was “much improved. Conscious and eating thanks to God and to your prayers. Still in critical care and a bit to do. Good.”
