Fermanagh schoolgirl Hannah Morrison cooked up a recipe for success at a ‘MasterChef’ style cook off last weekend.

A Year 12 pupil at the Collegiate Grammar School, Enniskillen, Hannah has secured a place in the All-Ireland Final of the Rotary Club’s Young Chef Cookery Competition, which is scheduled to take place in Dublin on February 27.

The young culinary talent was selected to go forward as a finalist after a ‘MasterChef’ style cook off at the Northern Ireland Final which took place in Ashfield Girls’ High School, Belfast on Saturday, January 30.

During the All-Ireland Final, Hannah will prepare, cook and serve a three course meal within two hours.

For the starter, she is planning to serve seared Irish scallops, cauliflower purée and black pudding with Armagh bramley apple syrup. Her main course will be slow roasted corn fed Irish chicken fillet; Ulster’s finest champ with Young Buck cheese and wholegrain mustard; carrots and parsnips along with a cabbage and bacon parcel served with wild mushroom and stout ragoût. For dessert, she will present orange chocolate truffle cake, Irish thick cut marmalade and candy crush.

Hannah was also the Key Stage 4 Western Area winner in the Northern Ireland Dairy Council’s Young Cook of the Year in 2015 and competed in the Northern Ireland final.
