Sinn Fein will hold a selection convention in South Tyrone on February 19.

The move comes on the back of two months of selection upheaval in Fermanagh South Tyrone.

In December, former MP Michelle Gildernew was chosen along with MLA Sean Lynch and Councillor John Feeley to stand in the forthcoming Assembly election. Phil Flanagan was de-selected.

However, after concerns were reportedly raised over "procedural errors" the party decided to re-run the whole selection process.

In last week's Impartial Reporter, a party member said “there were irregularities” during the vote in December and revealed that “strange things had been going on.”

A second selection convention was held at the end of January and on that occasion Mr. Flanagan was reselected but Michelle Gildernew was dropped after failing to secure enough votes from party members.

The party has now decided to hold a selection convention in South Tyrone only and to run four candidates in the constituency.

The meeting gives the former MP and minister Michelle Gildrenew another opportunity to be put on Sinn Féin's list.
