Best friends Leanne McCreery and Rushelle Kerr are embarking on an 83 kilometre trek of Iceland to raise money for Action Cancer.

The pair will set off on September 2 and are busy fundraising locally, with all funds going towards Action Cancer’s Big Bus which provides digital breast screening for women, MOT health checks for men and women, and health and lifestyle advice. Every year the Big Bus provides approximately 5,000 breast screenings and 4,000 MOT health checks within local communities. It also provides support services for people living with a cancer diagnosis and their family.

“We have been fundraising since January and people are so kind and generous; it’s been amazing,” said Leanne, from Lisbellaw.

Rushelle adds: “We both have Just Giving pages. Just go to ‘Leanne’s Trek Iceland page’ or ‘Rushelle’s Trek Iceland page’ if you would like to donate.”

The pair will hold a fundraiser walk until midnight TONIGHT Friday, April 29 in Colebrooke Estate, Fivemiletown. Registration begins at 10.30pm and the walk will last from 11.15pm until midnight.

Their next event is a family fun and dog show which will take place this Saturday, May 7, at the Forest Stables, Cooneen, beginning at 2pm.
“There will be pony rides, face painting, a barbecue , lucky dip and a dog show, where we have 12 different fun classes to suit all!” said Leanne.
“At 5pm we are doing a 2k cross country dog and owner run or ramble. Expect to get feet wet and mucky,” adds Rushelle.
