Enniskillen rower Holly Nixon kept alive her hopes of qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro when the GB Rowing Team women’s quadruple scull qualified for the final as they progressed through Monday’s repechage at the Final Olympic Qualifying Regatta in Lucerne, Switzerland.
The recently formed crew of Nixon, Tina Stiller, Jess Leyden and Ro Bradbury produced a strong finish to their race to finish second behind the Ukranians. New Zealand and China had already qualified direct for the final by winning their heats on Sunday with the GB crew finishing second to New Zealand.
Holly and crew now go into today’s final, scheduled for 4.40pm BST, where they will need to finish in the top two to qualify for this summer’s Olympic Games.
