A CAST of talented young actors aged between 17 and 24 will present Sam Cree’s hilarious comedy, ‘The Mating Season’ at The Ardhowen Theatre in Enniskillen this weekend.

Directed once more by Siobhan O’Brien, ‘The Mating Season’ tells the story of widower Sid Gillespie on his quest to find love with ‘professional widow’ Stella Morley, but with an interfering housekeeper, two teenage sons, and the future step-daughter from hell, Sid’s life is set to become much more complicated than he could have anticipated.

Borderline Players have been treading the boards since 2001, and the Generation 2.0 initiative was started in 2015.

Its establishment was led by young actors seeking a platform to showcase their talents and to further develop their acting skills.

Speaking about the production, which comes hot on the heels of pantomime, ‘Robinson Crusoe’, Siobhan said: “I am delighted to be working with this young, vibrant and enthusiastic team of actors.

“I have had the pleasure of working with many of them on other productions over the past few years, some have been with me as students from the age of four, but it is also very satisfying that the popularity of the Generation 2.0 programme is growing and that this year’s cast features a few new faces, with some cast members taking to the stage for the first time.”

Killian McGloin, who stars as leading man, Sid Gillespie, added that audiences could be assured of a great night out and said he was looking forward to finding out what the patrons of The Ardhowen Theatre thought of the latest production.

He said the cast had been working hard to perfect the show over the last two months despite the pressures of exams and school work, but was sure that the results will be clear to all when the curtain rises on Friday evening.
