Fermanagh Premier 1 Newcastle United 2

Fermanagh Premiers suffered late heartbreak in their encounter with Newcastle United at the Ballymena Showgrounds tonight as an injury time goal saw them go down 2-1 to the English outfit.

Darren Higginbotham's side got off to a flying start to the game and were in the lead after one minute. Captain Eoin Beacom's long throw led to a scramble and the ball was turned into his own net by a Newcastle player to give Fermanagh the perfect start.

However, Newcastle were back on level terms after 16 minutes as Lewis McNall grabbed an equaliser after a period of pressure.

Both sides had further chances after this but at half time the game remained level at 1-1.

And it was still all square as the contest rolled into injury time but right at the death McNall bagged his second of the game to inflict defeat on a game Fermanagh side.

Next up for the Premier side is a derby against Co. Tyrone tomorrow (Tuesday).
