THIS year’s Maid of Lough Erne Kesh Festival proved to be the biggest and best yet!
Praising an “exceptional” eight days filled with a wide variety of events for young and old, organisers said there had been a great buzz around the village throughout the festival.
The 2016 event began with an unforgettable ‘Big Fat Kesh Wedding’ and ended with a massive Party on the Street on Saturday, during which the crowds of people thronging the village came together for a stirring rendition of wedding classic Rock The Boat!
And continuing the wedding theme, one of the more inventive fancy dress costumes on display saw Kesh’s most famous son, Northern Ireland striker Kyle Lafferty, attending the fun-filled event with his new bride.
Highlights of this year’s festival also included ‘Tilly’s Rainbow Run’, a charity fundraiser in memory of local girl Tilly Walker, an exhibition of memorabilia from the old Duke of Westminster School, a ‘Wild West’ themed family afternoon, tractor run and an outside broadcast by BBC Radio Ulster’s Hugo Duncan.
Robert Anderson, of the Maid of Lough Erne Kesh Festival, said he would like to thank everyone who came along and supported the various events in record numbers and also the sponsors, without whom it would not be possible every year.
