THE 69th Belcoo sports and festival proved to be a popular occasion with hundreds taking part in last Saturday’s main events, a cycle and sports day in association with the Oisín McGrath (OMG) Foundation.

People of all ages from all across Fermanagh participated in the cycle for Oisín, which offered three distances; 50k, 75k and a demanding 130k. Meanwhile, there were lots of determined young faces as local children ran a mile-long race called ‘Run the Meadow for Oisín’. At the OMG sports day, participants gave their all in the javelin, shot putt and long jump.

Saturday’s festivities also included a fancy dress parade, clay pigeon shooting, crazy golf, a dog show, nail driving and even wellie throwing. Children and parents enjoyed bouncy castles, balloon modelling, mascots and the disco dome.

A couch to 5K fitness programme got underway on Sunday with lots of would-be runners determined to get in shape in time to complete the OMG 5K Run for Oisín.

The fun and games continued until Wednesday, when the festival came to an end with an adventure day at Corralea waterpark.
