Fermanagh Visitor Information Centre is moving from its existing premises opposite the Ulsterbus depot in Enniskillen to the new state of the art Visitor Centre at Enniskillen Castle.
The Visitor Information Centre, which is a service provided by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and is part of Tourism NI’s Visitor Information Centre network, will close at 5 pm on Wednesday 24 August and reopen at 9.30 am on Thursday 25 August in the purpose built Visitor Centre at Enniskillen Castle.
The move to Enniskillen Castle will enable visitors to enjoy enhanced facilities including self-service touch screens; access to a genealogy service and Fermanagh County Museum’s archives; café and shop.
These new services are in addition to those currently available which include information on things to do and eating out; accommodation bookings; ticket sales for local events; and the purchase of canal cards, fishing licences and permits.
Speaking about the relocation of the Visitor Information Centre, Charlotte Wilson, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Visitor Services Manager, said:
“We’re very excited to be moving to the new purpose built Visitor Centre at Enniskillen Castle which is just 400 metres away from our current premises. The Visitor Information Centre staff have gained a reputation for always going the extra mile to assist visitors with their travels and we look forward to continuing to offer this service in such an iconic setting that is Enniskillen Castle.”
Enniskillen Castle is set to reopen to the public on August 25 after a £3.5 million refurbishment programme to transform the complex into the heritage gateway for the area with new galleries and exhibitions, Visitor Centre, children’s activities, ‘behind the scenes’ rooms and redeveloped grounds. Its opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 5.00 pm, Saturdays, 11.00 am to 5.00 pm and Sundays (June to September only) from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.
