The late bronze age sword found last month at Arney will be the centrepiece of an evening event in Arney Hall at 7.30pm on Tuesday next, August 30.
Dr. Paul Logue, lead archaeologist from the Historic Environment Division of the Department for Communities will make a presentation about the importance of the sword in the context of the Irish Bronze Age.
The Chairman of Cleenish Community Association Sean Cox commented: “The finding of the sword was such a rare event that it has captured the imagination of the local community. So many questions about its find remain to be asked: Who made it and why? Why are Irish Bronze Age swords usually found only in rivers and lakes?
It will be a unique opportunity to see and hold the sword before it goes on permanent display at the Fermanagh Museum.
