A 43-YEAR-OLD woman caught driving with an expired licence in Lisnaskea this summer has been fined £100.

Amanda Crozier, of Friars Way, Enniskillen, was charged with driving without a licence at Main Street, Lisnaskea on June 30, 2016.

Defending solicitor, Garry Smyth, entered a guilty plea on behalf of his client at Fermanagh Magistrates Court on Monday.

The court heard that, on the date in question, a police mobile patrol in Lisnaskea stopped the defendant as she drove her black Seat Leon in the Main Street area.

She produced her driving licence after being requested to do so by the officers. Checks confirmed it had expired on September 18, 2015.

During a notebook interview, Crozier told the police that she didn’t realise it was an offence to drive with an expired licence and believed the licence to still be valid.

Mr Smyth told the court that his client, who had been driving for 20 years, had renewed her licence as soon as the matter had been drawn to her attention. He urged the judge to give the defendant maximum credit for dealing with it in a timely fashion. District judge, Nigel Broderick, imposed a £100 fine, a £15 offender levy and endorsed her driving licence with three penalty points. She was given 12 weeks to pay.
