A FIRE at the former Duke of Westminster school in Ballinamallard yesterday (Wednesday) was “deliberate”, the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service has said.
Three fire appliances attended the scene of the derelict school on the Makenny Road as children made their way to the nearby Ballinamallard Primary School and nursery.
Firefighters used thermal imaging cameras and hosereel jets to deal with the blaze.
Ulster Unionist MLA Rosemary Barton has expressed her disappointment while Democratic Unionist Councillor Raymond Farrell said: “Children, parents or motorists could have been caught up in this with devastating consequences.”
