Ballinamallard Utd 2 Dungannon Swifts 0

Ballinamallard deservedly claimed the three points on offer today at Ferney Park as they secured a comfortable 2-0 win over Dungannon Swifts.

James McKenna gave Gavin Dykes' side the lead in the 24th minute and Adam Lecky wrapped things up from the spot 11 minutes from time as the Mallards recorded a third win in four league games.

Dungannon were the brighter side in the early exchanges as they popped the ball about but they never really threatened James McGrath's goal and the longer the half progressed, the more the Mallards grew into the contest.

Adam Lecky cut in from the left but saw is shot blocked before the home side took the lead courtesy of captain James McKenna.

Liam McMenamin's free kick from the right was flicked on by Lecky and although McKenna slipped as he attempted to get the ball under control he managed to get a foot to it as he lay on the ground and direct the ball to the net for 1-0.

The closest Dungannon came to finding the net in the first half came from a Douglas Wilson header from a Cormac Burke corner but his glancing effort was wide of the post as the Mallards went in a goal to the good at the interval.

The Mallards had to deal with some good deliveries into the box in the early stages of the second half and one was spilled by McGrath but Ryan McConnell was there to clear the danger.

On the whole though Ballinamallard dealt comfortably with whatever Dungannon had to throw at them and they went on to ensure the points in the 79th minute.

Ryan Mayse went down in the area and referee Andrew Davey pointed to the spot.

Adam Lecky stepped up and thumped the penalty down the middle to make it 2-0.

Mayse then raced through late on but he fired narrowly wide as Ballinamallard finished up 2-0 winners.
