A number of Fermanagh schools are to have money invested in improvements, the Education Minister, Peter Weir has announced.

A total of £1,022,619 is to be spent in Fermanagh and South Tyrone under the minor works scheme.

Schools include funding of £11,000 for the conversion of ICT room to general classroom at Moat Primary School, Lisnaskea; £3,500 for works to refurbish a resource area at Maguiresbridge Primary School; Enniskillen Integrated Primary School to benefit from approved funding of £112,750 for additional modular classroom, £4,500 towards access control and bin compound at Tattygar Primary School, Lisbellaw; £580,869 awarded to Enniskillen Royal Grammar School for a new modular toilet and changing facilities, refurbishment of existing facilities including additional lockers and conversion of music classroom to general classroom and £7,500 for St. Paul’s Primary School, Irvinestown for security fence and ramps.

The Minister said: “I am confident that the substantial investment in minor works projects will help in the drive to improve educational standards. The completion of all of these works will ultimately provide better facilities for our children and young people to learn in and an improved working environment for teachers and other school staff. This ongoing significant investment also provides a boost to our local construction industry, helping to sustain jobs.”
