First Minister Arlene Foster has expressed delight that the Concentio Chamber Choir is coming to Fermanagh for a special concert, which she is hosting in aid of Horizon West, Killadeas.

In conjunction with the Office of the FM, the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice is delighted to invite the local community to attend this concert performed by the award winning choir this Sunday, December 11 in St. Macartan’s Cathedral, Enniskillen. The event is due to start at 4pm and will feature festive favourites as well as excerpts from Handel’s Messiah.

Directed by Jonathan Ireland, Concentio is a multi award-winning chamber choir of young singers. The choir was established in 2005 at Queen’s University Belfast, where all of the members were reading music. Since then the choir has gone on to become one of Ireland’s most sought-after ensembles, giving regular concert performances across the UK and Ireland. Concentio’s sell-out debut album Sleep features on Classic FM’s ‘Relaxing Classics’ programme and the choir continues to broadcast regularly on BBC.

Heather Gott, Community Fundraiser NI Hospice, pointed out: “All proceeds from the concert will be used to support the work of Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice Horizon West which is a local facility caring for children and young people from Tyrone and Fermanagh with life-limiting and life-threatening illnesses. Thanks to the generosity and support of the local community Horizon West has provided nursing care to over 30 children and their families in Tyrone and Fermanagh in the last year. This specialist care has been provided both in Hospice and at Home.”

Speaking ahead of the concert, the First Minister commented: “I am delighted that the amazing Concentio Chamber Choir are coming to Fermanagh for this event. I have no doubt that people from across the county will come to enjoy a spectacular night whilst also supporting the work of the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice Horizon West. The Hospice play a vital role supporting the lives of young people and their families. I look forward to joining with you all for a night of musical entertainment for the benefit of a vital local cause.”

NI Hospice Chief Executive Heather Weir thanked the First Minister and Concentio Chamber Choir for their support and added: “We are delighted and honoured to be the beneficiary of such a prestigious event and thank all involved for their support for the work of Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice. Each year, we care for children and their families in the Fermanagh and Tyrone region and know how important our services are to local families. Without the support of local people, we would not be able to deliver this care and therefore every penny raised through events such as this one, is vital.”

Tickets can be purchased from NI Hospice Shop, 14 Cross Street, Enniskillen or Arlene Foster’s Constituency Office, East Bridge Street, Enniskillen.
