Churches and fellowship groups have already begun their countdown to Christmas with many musical and seasonal events underway.
Throughout Fermanagh there are many ways to celebrate Christmas through our churches, schools and community organisations.
It seems today and this weekend will be a major weekend for carol services as it is the last full weekend before Christmas.
Later today, starting at 6.30pm, the new Enniskillen Royal Grammar School will be staging their first carol service and will return to St. Macartin’s Cathedral as one of its predecessors, Portora Royal School had done for many years, for a Festival of Carols and Lessons. The seating capacity in the Cathedral will be much greater than either of the two campuses of the new school.
Then starting at 8pm tonight, St. Michael’s College choir will be in fine tune to lead their carol service being held in St. Michael’s Church and features performances from the choir, soloists and brass band.
Churches throughout the county will be having their carol services throughout this weekend.
At Fermanagh Christian Fellowship, a Christmas Praise Night is being held tomorrow (Friday) evening starting at 7pm while on Saturday they will be having a youth zone Christmas party.
Last weekend, the National Trust sold out all their seats for their popular Christmas carols and music from Fermanagh Choral Society with selected readings. In the grand setting of Castle Coole, it looked extremely seasonal with open fires and candlelight.
Fivemiletown College will be celebrating their carol service this afternoon at 2pm in St. John’s Parish Church while Fivemiletown Primary School will be holding their carol service in St. John’s Church tomorrow(Friday).
On Monday evening next, December 19, Aghadrumsee Parish Church will be having a musical evening with a popular group from Armagh, Cantilena while on Monday and Tuesday evenings next week, December 19 and 20, just across the Border at Donagh Parish Church at Glaslough, there is a Winter’s Tale with Christmas music and verses.
