It was “a dream come true” for Enniskillen performer Garry Drumm when he recently made an impromptu appearance on Liverpool’s most famous stage at the Cavern Club.

The Beatles fan made his Cavern cameo on the sixtieth anniversary of the iconic club “where it all began” for The Beatles, Cilla Black and other iconic sixties musicians. The 46-year-old was on a city break to Liverpool with his partner Janet when they visited the club. Little did he know he was about to experience “one of the greatest moments of my life to date.”

“I first visited the Cavern Club in November 2016 for my birthday and instantly fell in love with the place. I was lucky enough to have Happy Birthday sung to me by the act that day Johnny Parry, joined by a packed Cavern Club audience,” said Garry.

Outlining his love for ‘The Fab Four’, Garry recalls borrowing records from Enniskillen library and playing them “relentlessly” at home.
“The Beatles are in my opinion our modern day Beethoven or Bach and I’m quite sure we will never see their significance again in our lifetime,” he said.

During his visit two weeks ago, Garry and Janet were watching one of the regular acts who encouraged the audience to shout up any special requests.

He explained: “I shouted up ‘All my loving’ followed by: “I’ll sing it for you if you want’ in cheeky Enniskillen fashion!”
To Garry and Janet’s surprise the musician allowed Garry to perform ‘All My Love’.

“The rest is a blur to be honest as I couldn’t believe it was happening,” Garry commented.
Feeling privileged, he said: “The club has regular acts every day but it is very rare for them to allow a member of the public up on stage for obvious reasons. I guess I was in the right place at the right time that day.

“Singing on the Cavern Club stage was a dream come true, I still can’t believe it happened!
“It is the most famous Club in the world, and for any Beatles or indeed music fan, just being in the club itself is slightly overwhelming. To actually sing on the stage was a lifelong ambition, following in the footsteps of McCartney and so many others.
“This definitely goes down as one of the proudest moments of my life so far.”
