TRANSLINK has apologised after a Fermanagh customer sent the press photos of Enniskillen bus depot in a dirty condition.

The stained toilet bowls, dirty sinks, over-flowing bins and food trodden into the floor were captured by the Brookeborough woman on Monday.

The woman who has caught the bus home from work for over 15 years said she has seen the depot in a messy condition before, but she has “never witnessed it as bad as this.”

“They don’t have a cleaner and I’ve seen bus drivers coming off their shifts and sweeping up with a brush,” the woman claimed. “There are garage workers coming in to clean at the end of their shift too,” she believes.

The woman described conditions on Monday as “an absolute disgrace” and voiced her concerns about the impact the dirty toilets in particular will have on the café attached to the depot, which relies on the toilets for its customers.

The woman concluded: “I don’t have anything against the drivers or other depot staff, it’s sitting in a whole load of rubbish that’s the problem.”

When contacted by The Impartial Reporter, a Translink spokeswoman did not clarify if bus drivers have been cleaning the depot. She said: “We strive to provide the highest standards at all times. We are in the process of recruiting additional cleaning staff for Enniskillen bus station, which recently had not been up to our usual high standard.

“We apologise to our customers.”
