THE owner of an Irvinestown hotel has been fined £750 for allowing after-hours drinking on his premises just over a year ago.
Joseph Mahon (56), of Mahon’s Hotel, Irvinestown, was charged with permitting the consumption of intoxicating liquor in licensed premises other than during the permitted hours on March 28, 2016.
When the case was dealt with at Fermanagh Magistrates Court, a further charge of selling intoxicating liquor after-hours was dismissed after the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) offered no evidence.
As well as being fined £750, the defendant had five penalty points imposed on his drinks licence.
If a licensed premises accumulates 10 penalty points, then its drinks licence could be suspended.
