A 26-YEAR-OLD woman has been fined £250 after police found a tin containing a small amount of cannabis in her bedroom.
Leanne Catherine Boyle, of Windmill Heights, Enniskillen, was charged with possessing a Class B controlled drug on January 21, 2017.
Defending solicitor, Michelle McVeigh, entered a guilty plea on behalf of the defendant at Fermanagh Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
The court heard that, at 8pm on January 21, police received a report about a domestic incident at an address in Windmill Heights.
Upon arrival, officers uncovered a tin with suspected cannabis in the defendant’s bedroom.
Boyle admitted that the cannabis was hers, adding that it was for her own personal use.
Ms. McVeigh told the court that there was “very little” she could add to the outline of the facts.
In mitigation, the solicitor said that admissions had been made at the very first opportunity.
She added that ongoing issues in Boyle’s personal life were causing her “great difficulty”.
District judge, Nigel Broderick, granted a destruction order for the seized drugs.
The judge fined the defendant £250 and imposed a £15 offender levy.
Mr. Broderick added: “If she is detected again, it will not be a fine on the next occasion.”
