Can you guess how many sweets are in this jar?
That is the fundraising challenge being set by Enniskillen woman Gemma Bowden, whose Sweetie Jar Tour for the Autism NI Fermanagh branch is well underway.
“I thought I would follow in my sister Roisin’s footsteps because she organised a fundraising quiz in Charlie’s Bar for Autism NI Fermanagh branch; I thought it would be a good idea to try something different and the sweetie jar just popped into my head,” explained Gemma, 31.
Gemma noticed that her nephew Finn, who has Autism, “really loves” attending the summer scheme organised by Autism NI Fermanagh branch, so, the proceeds raised by her fundraising venture will go towards this year’s summer scheme.
“Finn really loves going snow tubing, swimming and to ‘We Are Vertigo’,” Gemma observed.
To date, she has taken her Sweetie Jar Tour to Café Nero, Enniskillen; Tiny Tots Parent and Toddler Group, Derrylin and Todds Leap Activity Centre. Other organisations that will host Gemma’s Sweetie Jar in the coming weeks are: Grainne Moane Hair and Beauty, Sweet Memories, the Devenish Partnership Forum, SD Kells, New Image Salon, Encirc, the two primary schools in Irvinestown, Tattygar Primary School, Willowbridge and St. Michael’s College.
“I am enjoying it,” said Gemma, adding: “I am very happy that local businesses, groups and schools are supporting this fundraiser. If anyone else wants to get involved, they can check out may facebook page Sweetie Jar Tour for Autism NI - Fermanagh Branch or donate through my Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/gemma-bowden”
It costs £1 for two guesses.
The fundraiser will culminate with a bake sale on the Diamond, Enniskillen on Saturday, July 1 and the winner will be announced on July 2.
Gemma concluded: “The Sweetie Jar will make its final stop at my bake sale on July 1. I will hand over the money to Autism NI and then I’m going to enjoy a long break after all my hard work!”
