The last ever SWC Art Exhibition to be held in The Higher Bridges Gallery opened recently to a marvellous reception. Friends, family and members of the public came to see some of the exhilarating pieces produced by the students.

Not only was it the last Exhibition to be held at The Higher Bridges Gallery, it is also the last exhibition that current SWC CEO Malachy McAleer will officially open.

To mark this occasion student James Devlin produced a portrait of Malachy McAleer on behalf of the Art department as a token of their appreciation for the support he has shown to the exhibition over the years.

Wojciech Wos received the First Trust sponsored ‘Best of Show’ award for his piece entitled ‘In the Crowded Room’. This piece will remain on display in the First Trust bank in Enniskillen for the next 12 months.

Matthew Creans piece, ‘My Music’ received the Ken Ramsey innovation award and he will be giving up to £100 to spend on art supplies.

Clare Gilmurray, art tutor at the college was delighted with the work put on display by the students.

“This year has been as unique as every other. Each stream of students brings a new sense of excitement and anticipation. It really is lovely watching each individual flourish through the year achieving a style of work of their own and progress to their next destination. At this point I would like to wish all the students exhibiting here tonight all the luck for the future whatever it holds…”
