A FERMANAGH woman is to embark on a 2,500 mile rally around 12 European countries in one week in aid of the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.
Sarah Tierney will travel through Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Lichtenstein in a £300 Saab.
Seven cars from all over Northern Ireland will be setting off from Belfast on Sunday (May 28).
The rules of the race are simple: participants are responsible for all costs as the trip is entirely self funded, they must have a convertible car that costs no more than £500 and complete the rally in fancy dress.
Ms. Tierney, who will be joined by teammates Kelly Keogh and Rosie Walsh, says the most important aspect of the challenge is to “try and raise as much money and awareness as possible for the Northern Ireland’s Children’s Hospice.”
The group will be posting daily updates on their Facebook page ‘Hairball Rally’ throughout the challenge and there will be a daily competition to win a prize.
“A number of Fermanagh businesses have very kindly supported our Saab team. Huge thanks to Western Motors, Timoney Toughened Glass, Lakeland Tyres, Le Graphics, EMK Painting, Franco’s restaurant and Jets Cheerleading,” said Ms. Tierney.
