ANOTHER suspicious fire broke out at a block of flats in Enniskillen on Friday one week after four people had to be rescued from a blaze in the same building.
This time two men in their 20s were rescued and treated for smoke inhalation as firefighters extinguished the fire in the living room of a first floor flat just after 11pm.
The fire, the third of its kind at the same complex in recent weeks, is being treated as “deliberate” by the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service.
Last week “toxic smoke” bellowed from the property and the man who alerted the emergency services to the fire was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
He was discovered in the hallway opposite a flat where a mattress was propped up against the window and deliberately set on fire back in May.
Station Commander Jim McClintock warned last week: “Certainly the longer this goes on it’s only a matter of time before we are going to have a serious injury or a possible loss of life.”
